1. When and how did you become a Christian?
I was born and raised in Christian family but was not a serious Christian until at age 22 when I experienced the Holy Spirit at my first visit to my current Japanese church in NJ. At the time, I sensed and realized that this God had always been with me even before I was born and guided, protected, and loved me throughout my whole life. After that experience, I repented and started to seek God seriously.
2. When and how did you first sense a call to full-time Christian ministry?
It was a gradual and subtle but revolutionary transformation that happened in my spirit as I read and learned the Bible and had plenty of fellowships with my fellow sisters and brothers. I started to have a desire to share this good God with others, especially people in my country, Japan, where the Christian population is still less than one percent. At the same time, I experienced the wonderful and joyful taste of ministry as I served at my church as a Sunday school for youth and international student ministry in NYC, and could not resist my joy in Christ.
3. When and how did God call you to this particular ministry/organization?
When I attended a training conference for Japanese Christian leaders in 2020, I met some girls who were around my age and came to Christ through campus ministries for international students in the United States. That made me think of starting an outreach ministry for Japanese in NYC, the city which had the third largest Japanese population in America. Through JCFN (Japanese Chiristian Fellowship Network), I was connected with ISI NYC team and touched by their mission of global disciple making cycle and that made me get involved in their team.
4. Why do you believe God has called you to minister with this organization? (Write out the reasons why you believe He has called you to your ministry.) What verses did God use to confirm this direction and decision?
「You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others.」2 Timothy 2:2 NLT
When I attended two Japanese Christian conferences within the same month, God gave me this verse in a row as a confirmation of His calling to outreach Japanese students/young generations and their disciple making/discipleship. In addition, the three sequences of 2 links to my birthday: I was born on February 22, at 2:22pm, with 2220g. It has been such a great joy for me to see how God is making discipleship/disciple making movements and cycle through campus ministry. Because of this joy, He has continuously strengthen my passion for ministry, and I believe that He has called me to this journey.
5. What is the personal vision God has given you to fulfill the Great Commission?
Since I study counseling, I believe that He wants me to work for His kingdom in two ways; the first is serving nonbelievers by offering general counseling as an outreach ministry, and the second is encouraging Japanese Christians, especially Japanese Christian leaders, by helping them through pastoral care/Christian counseling/spiritual direction so that churches in Japan can grow and multiply. I believe that counseling know-how will be able to be applied to discipleship, so using this skill/knowledge for this purpose is another passion of mine. I also have a heart for art, so I pray that God will use my art skills for His purpose, such as creating Bible picture books or some visual resources, and collaborating with counseling sessions as a form of art therapy.
6. What kind of impact are you trusting God to make through you in this ministry?
Community building, healing works, and discipleship are the things that I feel God has tried to work on through me.
7. What do you hope will be the end result? (Write down some specific goals that you can share with others)
Seeing discipleship/disciple making cycle happen, that is, having new/young Christians who have hearts and visions of making the next disciples is one of the goals of my ministry. In terms of Japan’s Christian situation, I expect to see that God makes revival happen in Japan and the 1% of Christian population flips to 99%.
